Wrinkle treatment in Vienna

Many years of experience in wrinkle treatment

Over the course of life, joy, anger, worry and brooding leave traces on the face, often accompanied by changes in the skin. The ageing process already begins between the ages of 20 and 30 and is influenced by various factors such as diet, sport and sleep.

A healthy lifestyle can slow down skin ageing but cannot stop it. With increasing age, collagen and elastic fibres break down, and the moisture content and fatty tissue in the subcutaneous layer decrease, which leads to wrinkles and a loss of skin elasticity.

Aesthetic plastic surgery offers numerous methods of reducing the signs of skin ageing. With gentle minimally invasive treatments, the skin can be noticeably improved even without surgery. Minimally invasive methods can achieve excellent results, particularly when correcting superficial wrinkles.

In a personal consultation, Dr. Handl will be happy to advise you on the various options for wrinkle treatment and help you find the right solution for you.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that can bind a very large amount of water. This property allows wrinkles to be filled in again.

Fillers such as hyaluronic acid are used for the nasolabial fold (the fold between the nose and the corner of the mouth), the mentolabial fold (the fold between the lower lip and the chin), marionette lines (running down from the corners of the mouth to the lower jaw) and lip augmentation.

Hyaluronic acid can also be used to restore lost volume aesthetically.

You can find more detailed information about treatment with hyaluronic acid here.

Botulinum

Botulinum is a substance used for the temporary reduction of expression lines. This means that it temporarily restricts the movements of the muscles responsible for wrinkles, such as forehead lines, frown lines or crow's feet.

Botulinum is a minimally invasive treatment that causes little pain. The injections are given with very fine needles and take only a few minutes. The results are visible after just a few days and usually last between three and six months.

Botulinum usually has only minor side effects, such as slight pain or redness at the injection site. However, it is important that the treatment is carried out by an experienced doctor who uses the right dosage and injection technique in order to achieve an optimal result and avoid possible complications.

Dr. Handl is an experienced specialist in aesthetic medicine and can offer you individual advice on wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin. He will be happy to discuss your personal needs and expectations with you in order to achieve the best possible result.

As an experienced specialist in aesthetic plastic surgery, Dr. Handl is also involved in training other doctors. For many years, he has held courses and training sessions on botulinum and demonstrated the correct use of this method. He not only teaches theoretical knowledge but also places particular emphasis on practical exercises to ensure that participants can apply the techniques and methods safely and effectively.

Through his expertise and commitment, Dr. Handl has trained numerous doctors and helped them improve their knowledge and skills in wrinkle treatment with botulinum. These training courses help ensure that more and more patients can benefit from the safe and effective use of this method.

Preparation, risks and aftercare

Preparation

In a wrinkle analysis, Dr. Handl discusses with you which wrinkles can be treated with botulinum or a filler. After consulting us, avoid blood-thinning medication and alcohol for a few days beforehand, as this reduces bruising. If possible, come without make-up. Anaesthesia is usually not necessary for this short treatment.

Risks

Slight redness, swelling and small bruises at the injection sites as well as temporary headaches are possible. With botulinum, the active substance can rarely spread to neighbouring muscles and, for example, cause an eyelid or eyebrow to droop temporarily. The effect is limited in time and wears off after three to six months. Allergic reactions are very rare.

In the informed-consent consultation, Dr. Handl discusses all risks in detail and in relation to your personal situation.

Aftercare

You can go out in public again straight away. Stay upright for the first few hours, do not massage the treated areas and avoid sport, saunas and steam baths for 24 hours. The full effect of botulinum shows after about two weeks. We offer a free check-up within the first 14 days. Remember sun protection.

Frequently asked questions

When does treatment with fillers make sense?

Wrinkles can be filled with so-called fillers (e.g. hyaluronic acid or the patient's own fat). The slight build-up of volume plumps up specific areas and smooths the complexion. Fillers are used for the nasolabial fold (the fold between the nose and the corner of the mouth), the mentolabial fold (the fold between the lower lip and the chin), marionette lines (running down from the corners of the mouth to the lower jaw) and to plump up or enlarge the lips.

Is the treatment painful?

With local anaesthesia and very fine cannulas, we make sure that pain is kept to an absolute minimum. The treatment can hardly be felt.

How does a minimally invasive wrinkle treatment work?

Once the individual requirements, the patient's desired result and any open questions have been clarified in the consultation, the treatment follows. It is a very short treatment. As a rule, you can go out in public again straight afterwards. Occasionally, slight swelling and small bruises may occur at first, but these subside within a few days.

When is the result visible?

Directly after the treatment, slight swelling or small bruises may still occur. The final result can be seen after about 3 days.

What are the risks of a minimally invasive wrinkle treatment?

Every procedure carries certain risks, but with these gentle, minimally invasive methods they are very low. In the consultation, Dr. Handl informs you in detail about all the risks of the treatment method.

What should I bear in mind after a wrinkle treatment?

On the day of treatment, Dr. Handl recommends taking it easy physically, light cooling and avoiding strong heat and saunas.
