Dr. Markus-Johannes Handl – plastic surgeon in Vienna

Dr. Markus-Johannes Handl is a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and continues his family's medical tradition in the third generation. Both his father and his grandfather were doctors. Medicine, personal contact with patients and the responsibility of the medical profession have therefore been part of his life since his early youth. This family background gave rise to his own passion for medicine and, ultimately, to his specialisation in plastic and aesthetic surgery.

Training

After studying medicine at the Medical University of Vienna (doctorate 2008), Dr. Handl trained in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. A training period in trauma surgery took him to the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles. He completed key parts of his plastic surgery training at the Klinikum rechts der Isar university hospital in Munich and at the Erding Academic Teaching Hospital.

Since 2016, he has been a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery (Austrian Medical Chamber); since 2019, his specialist title has also been recognised by the Bavarian Medical Association. Since 2016, he has run his own practice in Vienna and also works as a visiting doctor in Dubai.

Plastic and aesthetic surgery in Vienna

His main areas of treatment include breast surgery, facial surgery, body contouring and minimally invasive aesthetic treatments.

At the heart of his work is a modern, patient-centred approach to aesthetic surgery. Every patient brings different anatomical conditions, wishes and expectations. That is why Dr. Handl places great importance on a detailed personal consultation and an individually planned treatment. His aim is not change according to a predetermined ideal, but an aesthetic result that fits harmoniously with the patient's personality and natural proportions.

Teaching

Dr. Handl passes on his experience in training courses for doctors. At the Association for Plastic Surgery (VfpC), of which he is president, he leads:

• Botox course Vienna (since 2010)
• Hyaluronic acid filler seminar
• Blepharoplasty seminar (surgical course on the upper eyelid lift)

Dr. Handl is also the founder of AESTHETIC.CLINIC, an international platform for aesthetic medicine and surgery with a network of international partners and specialists.
