Jawline contouring

Evening out irregularities and harmoniously optimising the jawline

The jawline, the part of the jaw between the chin and the ear, gives the face contour, definition and distinctive features. With increasing age, however, the tissue loses its firmness and begins to sink. As a result, not only do the cheeks and lower jaw sag, but the transition between the jaw and neck also appears softer and less defined. These processes are also known as the “sagging effect”.

With high-quality hyaluronic acid fillers, the jawline can be injected and thus harmonised in jawline contouring. This makes it possible to treat a receding chin, sagging cheeks and a changed jawline.

Hyaluronic acid is injected into the jaw area with very fine needles. The injections redefine the jawline, even out irregularities and straighten the jawline harmoniously. It is also possible to build up the chin and make it more prominent, which increases the contrast and accentuates the facial silhouette more clearly.

The first results are visible immediately after the treatment. The final result only develops fully after two to three weeks.

The hyaluronic acid breaks down by itself after about 3–8 months and, in addition to the immediate effect, stimulates the body's own collagen synthesis. This allows the result to be observed calmly and adjusted if necessary.

Jawline treatment in Vienna

The jawline, also called the jaw edge, is an important aesthetic aspect of the face that influences its symmetry and proportions. A well-defined chin line and jawline can give the face a distinctive, slim and youthful expression.

Jawline contouring is an aesthetic treatment method that aims to improve the shape and contour of the jawline and optimise the facial proportions. With the targeted use of hyaluronic acid fillers, the jawline can be accentuated and made more pronounced to create a harmonious balance in the face.

At his practice in Vienna, Dr. Handl offers various methods of jawline contouring to meet the individual needs and wishes of each patient. Every treatment is preceded by a detailed consultation in which the various options are discussed and the patient can express their ideas and expectations.

One of the most effective methods of jawline contouring is the use of hyaluronic acid fillers. These are injected precisely into the relevant areas to improve the volume and shape of the jawline. The treatment is quick, simple and almost painless and requires no downtime. The results are visible immediately and last up to 8 months.

Another option for jawline contouring is the use of botulinum toxin, also known as Botox. This method aims to relax the muscles in the jaw area in order to improve the contour of the jaw. The treatment is quick and simple and requires no downtime. The results are visible within 2–3 days and last up to 6 months.

All in all, jawline contouring is a quick, simple and effective way of enhancing the face and achieving a distinctive, attractive jawline. Dr. Handl has extensive experience and expertise in this treatment method and advises each patient individually to achieve the best result.

Preparation, risks and aftercare

Preparation

In the consultation, you and Dr. Handl discuss how the chin and jawline suit your face and whether hyaluronic acid, botulinum or a combination makes sense. After consulting us, avoid blood-thinning medication and alcohol for a few days beforehand. Cooling and an anaesthetic cream are usually enough to numb the area.

Risks

Redness, swelling, tenderness and small bruises are possible. Rarely, palpable nodules, slight asymmetries or inflammation develop, which is why a preventive antibiotic is given if needed. Very rarely, the filler blocks a blood vessel. With botulinum in the chewing muscle, chewing can temporarily tire more quickly.

In the informed-consent consultation, Dr. Handl discusses all risks in detail and in relation to your personal situation.

Aftercare

Slight swelling usually subsides after 6 to 12 hours, and you can work again straight away. Cool the area if needed, do not massage the jawline and avoid sport on the first day. Remember sun protection. If needed, a check-up takes place after about one week.

Frequently asked questions

Who is jawline contouring suitable for?

In some people, the transition from the face to the neck, the jaw and chin line, is naturally barely defined. In addition, the tissue loses firmness with increasing age, and with it the chin loses its contour. A jawline treatment can restore and accentuate the contours.

Is treatment with hyaluronic acid painful?

With local anaesthesia and very fine cannulas, we make sure that pain is kept to an absolute minimum.

How long does the result last?

The hyaluronic acid breaks down by itself after about 3–8 months.

What are the risks of the treatment?

Every procedure carries certain risks, but with gentle, minimally invasive methods they are very low. Swelling or small bruises may occur directly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 2–3 days. In the consultation, Dr. Handl informs you in detail about all the risks of the treatment method.

How does the treatment work?

First, the individual requirements and the patient's desired result are discussed in detail in a consultation with Dr. Handl. Once all open questions have been clarified, the treatment takes place in the practice on an outpatient basis. A firm hyaluronic acid is injected along the jawline with a fine cannula. The plumping effect of the hyaluronic acid counteracts small fat deposits and sagging skin and gives the facial features more contour.

Does the injection leave a scar?

No, no scar remains at the injection site. The injection sites may still be slightly red directly after the treatment but are usually no longer visible the next day.
