Body

Body surgery covers procedures to shape and tighten the body, for example after major weight loss, after pregnancy or with age-related changes. It also includes scar corrections, intimate surgery and hand surgery. At the practice of Dr. Markus-Johannes Handl in Vienna, every procedure is planned individually and tailored to your starting point.

Stubborn fat deposits, excess skin or sagging contours often cannot be changed by exercise and diet. This is where plastic surgery can help bring your body shape back in line with how you feel about your body.

Body surgery: tightening procedures

After weight loss or pregnancy, excess skin often remains. In a tummy tuck, excess skin and fatty tissue on the abdomen are removed and, if necessary, the abdominal muscles are tightened. An arm lift and a thigh lift correct sagging skin on the arms and legs.

Body contouring with liposuction and your own fat

In liposuction, local fat deposits, for example on the abdomen, hips or thighs, are reduced in a targeted way. In a Brazilian butt lift, fat removed by liposuction is processed and placed in the buttock area to change the shape and volume of the buttocks.

Intimate surgery and scar revision

Enlarged or asymmetrical inner labia can be an aesthetic and physical burden. Labiaplasty corrects their size and shape. Conspicuous, widened or bothersome scars can often be made less noticeable with a scar revision.

Hand surgery

At the practice, body surgery also includes two common conditions of the hand. In carpal tunnel syndrome, the median nerve at the wrist is compressed, which can cause tingling and numbness in the fingers. In Dupuytren's contracture, the connective tissue of the palm hardens, so that the fingers increasingly can no longer be fully straightened.

Consultation before a procedure

Everything starts with a detailed consultation. Dr. Handl examines your starting point, discusses your wishes and explains which method is suitable for you. The procedure, anaesthesia, healing phase and possible risks are discussed openly so that you can make a well-informed decision.

You will find an overview of the individual body surgery treatments below, with information on procedure, healing and costs on each page.
